Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge #28
Hi crafty friends! It's time for another Stay Crafty With Hero challenge! This month we are challenging you to create projects using Fall Colors. You can use the colors in this challenge banner or whatever fall colors speak to you! We'll include all of the details further down this post; but first, here's a beautiful, seasonally appropriate card from Maria to kick off our newest challenge.
Hi everybody! It's Maria here and today we are kicking off the newest Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge with a fun "Fall Colors" theme! I hope you'll get out your favorite fall colors and play along with us.
I started my card by ink-blending an A2 sized piece of white cardstock with Lemon Drop, Creamsicle and Fruit Punch Reactive inks. I blended lightly at first and then added heavy layers of color for a bold look. Then I made sure my ink was totally dry before moving on to the next step. You can do this by letting it air dry or hitting it with a heat tool to remove any moisture.
I taped this month's new Victorian Stencil to my ink-blended background using washi tape so that I could apply Hero Paste to the panel. To get a smooth application I used an old credit card so that I could pull the paste evenly across the stencil. I carefully removed my stencil (and cleaned it right away), and before the Hero Paste could dry, I covered the wet paste with Gold Embossing Powder. The gold powder stuck to the wet paste and when I tapped the cardstock any extra powder easily fell off. If your ink is still wet the powder will stick to your ink and it will be tricky to remove before you heat emboss. I heat embossed the powder being careful not to get too close with my heat tool because this can cause the paste to bubble. I cut this panel down to 4" x 5.25" and used foam tape to adhere it to a Sand top-folding card base.
To finish my card off I cut a white leaf using the Autumn Leaves Fancy Dies and topped it with some gold thread and a sentiment from the Autumn Messages stamp set. To create the sentiment, I heat embossed it on vellum using Onyx Pigment Ink and Clear Embossing Powder. I hid the foam adhesive behind the heat embossed letters.
Ok, that's it for today you guys! I hope you will all join us for this month's Stay Crafty with Hero Fall Colors challenge. Have an awesome day!
-Maria
