Sparkle & Shine Challenge!

Good morning! It's Lisa here, hoping to entice you to join our challenge at A Blog Named Hero this month. The theme is sparkle and shine and I know that we all love the sparkle! I am excited to see all of the entries this month.

Here are a couple of cards I made; they were easy to make, and sparkly, but hard to photograph. Ha! I used the gorgeous Rose Stamp & Cut set, the sparkly Gold Glitter Embossing powder, and white detail embossing powder. Those three main things plus some cardstock and other items made two cards pretty quickly.

I started by swiping a Versamark pad across navy cardstock, very organically. No rhyme or reason, just some stripes that would help me create a background. Sprinkle on gold glitter embossing powder and then heat set it with your heat tool. Make sure to wave that back and forth in front of yourself to admire the glitter.

Stamp the rose in a pale colored ink on watercolor paper and then use watercolors to color it. After that is dry cover the entire image in Versamark ink and emboss it with White Satin Pearl embossing powder. Do that step twice. It definitely mutes your watercoloring, so keep that in mind if you try this technique. After that is thoroughly cooled, place this piece of watercolor paper back into your MISTI stamping tool and stamp the rose image over it in Versamark. Sprinkle the gold glitter embossing powder over it and heat set. That embossing powder ends up melting into the satin pearl layers and becoming smooth, as you can see in this photo. It's very neat, and I highly suggest you play around with heat embossing layering.

I had experimented with white cardstock first, while making the background, and wanted to make sure that got used. I stamped the rose image again onto white cardstock with Intense Black ink, and popped that on top of the background for a very clean and elegant card. I "might" like this one better? What do you think?

I hope I've inspired you to get glitter everywhere in your craft room! The good news is that if you do, and enter our challenge at A Blog Named Hero, you could win a gift certificate to the Hero Arts store!

Have a great day!
