Sequins + Stars

Kelly Rasmussen

You know those perfectly decorated Christmas trees you see in the stores completely covered in sparkly white and gold ornaments and lights? That’s what my card today reminds me of…and also has me wanting to ditch my colored ornaments this year and try out this clean and simple color combo.

I started off by creating a top folding card base from Snow Layering Paper. In the top center area I applied a bunch of adhesive where the sequins would go. I used the Champagne Sequin Mix to completely fill the area solid with sequins and stars. Then I adhered a strip of shiny gold cardstock to the bottom of the card base.

Next I die-cut a star from a piece of Snow Layering Paper using the 12-Point Stars Infinity Dies and adhered the negative portion of the die over top of the sequins. These dies are a great change up from your normal 5-point star!

Once this portion of the card was done I needed to find a sentiment to fit in somewhere…something I probably should have thought about long ago! ;) But when I went browsing through my Holiday 2017 stamps, I found the perfect message! It is from the Poster Christmas Cards set and I think it ties in perfectly with my card. I gold heat embossed the message and popped it up over the star window.

This same layout would work great with other Infinity Dies such as the Snowflakes and Ornaments.

Thanks for stopping by today!

I love this card, too, but I am looking for more ways to use these dies. I have been unable to find more than 2 ideas. I know there are more out there. Can you connect me? I realize this blog post is three years old, but I still hope I can get some fresh ideas.

Great card, going to use the concepts for a New Years card. What type of adhesive was used for the sequins?

That champagne sequin mix is growing on me! I think perfect for a welcome to the New Year Card! Thanks!

I am a 76 year old grandma and keep my mind clear cardmaking. This has got to be one of my favorites. One of them. Each one seems to be more beautiful than the last. Thanks for sharing.
