Saturdays with Sally: Going Places with my Travel Journal
It's time for another Saturday with Sally! I love making journals so I know where we went during trips. Hero Arts has a great, small Handmade Accordion hardcover book for documenting your travels.
By the time you read this I will already be writing in it while we are cooling off out east. I inked up the From the Vault Aged Shadow stamp in several green and yellow inks and randomly stamped all over the cover. Then I took Intense Black ink and stamped Destination New York as my focus. I randomly stamped From the Vault Travel images all over and added my airport codes with Luggage Tag Alphabet. I used Informal Letters to stamp a few other words.
On the inside I used From the Vault Aged Shadow again for the primary writing areas and stamped partial shadows around it in contrasting colors. Or you can mask off the blocks and stamp something like Flower Garden Bold Prints around the blocks. Then over stamp with From the Vault Travel again in Charcoal ink for an artsy look.
It is so easy to do all the stamping before you leave so you don’t have to take supplies with you. Then all you have to do is write and add souvenirs like tickets or business cards and photos with a dab of glue - Precision Glue is easy to travel with! Try to do it every night before you sleep so you remember all the details. It’s easy to say “I’ll do it tomorrow” and then a few more days go by and you forget! Jog your memory by looking at the pictures you took on your phone, which always have the dates! Lifesaver!
If you need more room, you can turn the journal over and write on the back of the pages too.
Bon Voyage!

Cooling off in the east? Oh, no — there’s a heat wave! At least you’ll be cool with your neat journal. Thanks for sharing your ideas!

Great travel journal, Sally. You’re right on with your comment about needing to make the entries etc. daily while traveling. Like the idea of doing all the stamping etc. in advance, also. tfs
