Pair New + Old Favorites for a Fresh Summer Card
Hero Arts
Hello friends, and welcome! This is Mindy Eggen, and I'm thrilled to be back on the Hero Arts blog sharing a card featuring the My Monthly Hero Studio Kit for July 2026: You're the Zest.
One of my favorite things about the monthly kits is how much is already included. You can create so many beautiful projects with just the contents of the kit, but it's also fun to stretch your supplies by mixing them with products you already have. That's exactly what I'm doing today by pairing the kit with a few favorites from the Fresh Flowers Collection.

For today's card, the star of the show is the Let's Ride Die. It creates the sweetest girl riding a scooter, complete with an adorable little sidecar that's perfect for carrying critters, flowers, or a basket full of goodies. It's such a fun die!
When we have images like this, our first instinct is often to build an entire scene—and that's always a great option—but I wanted to try something a little different. Instead of a detailed scene, I let the scooter take center stage against a soft, whimsical background.
To create it, I started with Bellini cardstock and used the Floral Frames Layering Stencils to build a subtle tone-on-tone design. I blended all four stencil layers using Peony ink, simply changing the pressure of my blending brush as I worked. That little bit of variation adds depth while keeping the background soft enough that it doesn't compete with the focal image. It's an easy technique that adds just the right amount of interest.
To finish the background, I added a few splatters of White Acrylic Speckle for an extra playful touch.
The scooter and accessories were adhered with thin foam squares for a bit of dimension, and I finished the card with a sentiment from the Perfect Pair Stamp & Die Set. Instead of placing it horizontally, I turned it vertically along the side of the card for a fun, unexpected detail.
I hope today's project inspires you to look at your monthly kits in a new way. Try mixing them with products already in your craft room—you might be surprised by all the new combinations you can create!
Thanks so much for joining me today. Be sure to watch the video for all the tips and tricks for pulling this card together.
Happy crafting!
