Two Creative Card Ideas with the Fresh Flowers Collection

Hero Arts

The Fresh Flowers Collection is full of versatile products that work beautifully together, and in this recent LIVE, Carissa Wiley shares two completely different ways to use them. One card leans into soft layered florals and dimensional die cutting, while the other embraces a playful mixed-media look created almost entirely with stamping.

Watch & Learn from Carissa

Carissa shares plenty of helpful design tips—from adding depth to die-cut flowers to creating balanced focal points with bold sentiments. If you missed the live, you can catch the replay on our YouTube channel and craft right along with her!

Card #1: Soft Stenciled Flowers Frame

The first card combines soft ink blending with dimensional die cuts for a fresh, modern thank you card.

Using the Floral Frame Layering Stencils, Carissa ink blended delicate floral clusters to create a dimensional frame for the card. She cut out the center with the Nested Rectangle Infinity Dies to create a popped up window panel. A soft aqua panel tucked behind the opening adds just the right amount of color while keeping the overall look light and airy.

The flowers from the Sweet Blooms Die Set become the focal point, with simple ink blending and a touch of darker shading around the petals to add realistic depth. Adding that extra bit of shading only takes a few moments but makes the die cuts really pop.

The sentiment combines the bold "thanks" from the Sweet Blooms Die Set with the "mondo" from the Perfect Pairs Stamp & Cut. This versatile sentiment set is full of everyday greetings in a fun, modern font that you'll reach for again and again. Placing the sentiment at a slight angle gives the finished design extra movement and keeps the composition feeling playful.

TIP: This design can easily become a shaker card! Simply add a clear panel behind the rectangle window before assembling the frame, then fill it with your favorite sequins or embellishments for an interactive twist.

Card #2: A Mixed Media Background That Lets Stamping Shine

For her second project, Carissa shifts the focus from die cutting to stamping, proving that a few thoughtfully layered images can create a striking background.

The Organic Shapes Clear Stamp Set builds a loose, artistic collage using overlapping organic shapes, doodles, and textures. A mix of soft and bright ink colors keeps the design light and allows the overlapping shapes to layer beautifully.

To introduce even more visual interest, Carissa layered in snippets from the Friendly Type Hero Transfers. The crisp black typography adds subtle texture without competing with the focal point, helping create that effortless mixed-media look.

The bold "thanks" sentiment from the Sweet Blooms Die Set immediately draws your eye, while the black lettering echoes the Hero Transfers. A thin black mat beneath the stamped panel reinforces those dark accents and neatly frames the design before everything is mounted onto a soft Chiffon card base.

The result is clean, colorful, and packed with personality.

TIP: Don't save the Organic Shapes Clear Stamp Set just for backgrounds. The individual images are perfect for adding small pops of color, grounding focal images, filling empty spaces, or creating custom mixed-media details on almost any style of card.

Whether you love creating layered floral cards or experimenting with artistic stamped backgrounds, the Fresh Flowers Collection offers plenty of inspiration.
