October My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway
Hello and welcome as we begin the countdown to the release of the October My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, October 7 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We will be here all weekend long, sharing inspiration before the launch on Monday. Now let's join Emily for the first look at this retro-inspired holiday kit!
Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today sharing some inspiration using this month's fantastic My Monthly Hero kit! This kit is chock full of vintage, 1950's inspired images, including the fabulous hearth image, record player, and mod Christmas trees. I've created a little scene using these great scene-building images, so let's get started with the details!
To start, I stamped the hearth and record player on an A2 panel of white cardstock using Intens-ified Black Ink. I colored the images using Copic markers, then added some color to the blank areas on the "walls" using Aegean ink and a blending brush.
Next, I stamped several of the accessories on a separate panel of white cardstock, again using Intens-ified Black Ink, adding color with Copic markers in a vintage-y aqua, red, and white color scheme, then used the coordinating Frame Cuts included in the My Monthly Hero kit to die cut the images.
I added the die cut accessories to the card front using foam adhesive for some extra dimension. I stamped the greeting from the My Monthly Hero kit on a strip of white cardstock and added it to the card front using foam adhesive.

It reminds me of a Christmas after my parents divorced and my mom let me decide what colors we were to use for Christmas I wanted a purple and white retro Christmas tree My mom found an old silver and white tree at a yard sale we decorated it with all purple ornaments the tree was only 5 ft tall I didn’t realize at the time why she chose me to decide our Christmas As it turned out it was our last Christmas in what was our family home come spring we moved into a small apartment and my little sister and I had to share a room and bed my brother actually slept on the sofa I’ll never forget that Christmas it will always be my favorite it was the last great Christmas before my childhood changes forever I was 14 years old As an adult I now know why my mom did it for me and I’m forever thankful

I felt such a wave of nostalgia when I saw this card. We had the old record player. Our neighbors had the white tinsel Christmas tree. I remember seeing the big stone fireplace on episodes of the Andy Williams holiday specials. Good times! I can hardly wait for the release. Just the kit I have been waiting for, Emily. I love your full of youngsters kind of look card even though it’s supposed to be from the 50’s, it’s sort of youths look. My granddaughter loves the record player and al sort of antiquities. I love the fireplace and the non traditional Christmas colors. Tus.

I like the stone texture of the fireplace. It looks interesting. The one Christmas tree reminds me of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree, albeit a bit taller. I’m curious to see what else will be in this month’s kit.

Totally retro! I was born in 1952 and remember my first record player. It was a portable that looked like a small square suitcase. Super cute card!!!!

I LOVE the record player. I feel like it needs pink and purple Christmas trees alongside it—-like on Charlie Brown Christmas. I am imagining what I can do with this cute set!!!!!!!!!! LOVE your coloring, as usual. You are the mistress of coloring.
