October My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway!
Janette Kausen
Hello and welcome back to the countdown to the release of the October My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, October 1st at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We will be here through tomorrow, sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as the new optional add-on products that will also be available on Monday. Stay tuned for more inspiration for the remainder of the weekend! Now let's join Janette for a another look at this winter holiday inspired kit.
Good morning to you! Janette here with winter wonderland project to help get you in the mood for the upcoming frigid weather! Oh, wait. No. Does that happen? I can't be the only one who dreads shorter days and cold temperatures. Maybe I should rephrase that to something about all the delicious food and expanding waistlines. Hmm. No there too. Sledding, yes, sledding! Sledding is certainly an enjoyable occasion that winter brings. Let's go with that!
This month's My Monthly Hero kit is full of so many good things winter brings. To create today's card begin by combining several drops of the kit-included Iridescent Ink (I'm pretty confident it is what unicorns are made of!) with a couple of drops of Dark Teal and Moss Liquid Watercolors on a palette. After liberally applying clear water to watercolor paper, touch a sparkly teal loaded brush to the paper and let color expand. Keep repeating with quick touches across the paper. Repeat with moss, and again with either color as necessary to cover any white spaces. Allow to dry naturally or speed with embossing tool.
Once completely dry, die cut with kit-included Paper Layering Tree. Curl up branches with tweezers, craft pick or even your nails.
Stamp sledding image in Intense Black ink and Copic color, die cut. Mask hand shaped hillsides and Copic airbrush (or ink blend) just above them to give the illusion of a shadow behind them. Copic airbrush (or ink blend) sky, gradating down to white.
Stamp kit-included sentiment in Intense Black ink. Use scissors to cut along hillsides and tuck trees in place. Adhere trees and sled with dimensional adhesive or possibly flat if you plan to mail the finished card.
Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, October 1st, before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!
Thank you for visiting. We'll see you soon!
Cute card. I am already planning on purchasing this kit.
I am not a fan of winter either but your card makes it look like it could be fun!
A tree die! More excitement, for sure! Living in Tennessee, we don’t have much snow, but we relish what we do get. Our LONG summers make us long for cold weather. We are still in the 80’s here and consider that cool:)
Beautiful card
Just love it! Your card, Janette, gave me the feeling that I was on the sled. Just love your techniques. Also excited about the paper layering tree die!
