November My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #4 + Giveaway

Nov 02, 2019 Jessica Frost-Ballas

It's time for our fourth countdown peek! The November My Monthly Hero kit will be available on Monday, November 4 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let’s join Jess, who is sharing another look at this wonderful kit!

Good morning! Jess here with a fun holiday shaker ornament using the November My Monthly Hero kit!

The kit includes clear fillable ornaments. You can use both halves of the ornament to create a round ball but I prefer using just half the ornament for these tags! I love to attach them to a gift so that the recipient has a pretty dimensional gift tag that can then be transferred to the Christmas tree as an ornament!

To start I die-cut the front door from Hero Hues Dove White cardstock and colored it with Copic markers. I also die-cut the topiary, letter, and wreath and colored those with Copic markers as well. I adhered the wreath to the door and then adhered the die to another panel of white cardstock. I used a circle die from the Infinity Nesting Circle Die set to cut a circle of the two panels that would fit snugly on the back of the ornament ball. When you cut the circle from the door, parts of the door die won't be attached anymore (like some of the bricks) so I adhere it to a panel of white cardstock first so I won't have to piece it together after it's cut.

Next I adhered my topiary and wreath to the scene and tucked the letter into the mail slot. Then I trimmed off any excess hanging off the circle. I also stamped the cute kitty from the kit onto Hero Hues Dove White cardstock with Intense-ified Black ink and colored him with Copics before die-cutting him with the coordinating die. I adhered him to my door scene with foam mounting tape for a little extra dimension. Next I carefully spread a little glitter lacquer included in the kit onto the topiary, mat, wreath, and door to resemble snow and sprinkled it with Icicle and Snowfall glitter.

While that was drying I die-cut another circle from a piece of Hero Hues Cranberry cardstock. Then I stamped my sentiment from the kit with Embossing and Watermark ink and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. Once my scene was dry I adhered the red cardstock circle to the back of the scene.

Then I carefully added about a tablespoon of fake snow, clear confetti, Snowfall and Icicle glitter to the clear ball. I added a line of hot glue around the edge of my circle and then pressed it carefully to the clear ball to seal the shaker. I held it in place for a few seconds to make sure it sealed completely. Finally I added a strip of thin red ribbon around the ball to hide the glue and give it a more finished edge. I ran that ribbon through the top of the ball and then added a little twine bow to finish it!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, November 4, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Good luck!
