November My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway

Hello! We are continuing the countdown to the release of the November My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, November 4 at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. We will be here all weekend, sharing inspiration before the launch. Now let's join Michelle for another look at this fabulous kit!

Hello there, as soon as I saw this kit I wondered about all the different possibilities you can create with it. You can make cards, decorations, packaging...all sorts! I thought that the main dies, along with the glassine bags, would create a fun treat bag.

I first took the house die with frame and die cut this from Hero Hues Dove White Cardstock. This die is so fun as it cuts out the windows, adds the texture and score lines for the bricks, plus has hinges so that the door can open and close. I removed the frame piece and die cut this separately for the back of the bag. The frame die has a scoring line at the bottom, rather than a cut line so you can cut the cardstock to whatever length you want. I did create mine so that the bag would be fairly deep, but you wouldn't necessarily need to, depending on how many treats you wanted to add inside!

I also die cut the letters/mail to go through the letterbox, as well as the wreath for the door and the plants. I then coloured the front of the house, plus the accompanying plants and wreath with Copic Markers. The roof of the house was cut separately and also coloured with Copic Markers.

I folded the bottom parts of the front and back of the treat bag and adhered them together to create the bottom of the treat bag. I then added a sheet of acetate behind the front panel. I thought this would work nicely for the windows, as well as giving the treat bag extra stability. I cut the top off the glassine bag and adhered the back of it, to the back panel of the treat bag, with tape runner.

I took the 'happy holidays' stamp from the main kit stamp set and stamped this on to more Hero Hues Dove White Cardstock with Intens-ified Black Ink. I then cut it out using the smallest of the Tag Infinity Dies, cutting the hole reinforcer from Hero Hues Cranberry Cardstock. I threaded twine through the top of the tag and then tied this around the roof pieces to hold the bag shut. I love that the roof piece acts as handles for the treat bag!

The wreath and plants were added to the front of the bag with foam tape and the letters popped through the letterbox and adhered with Precision Glue. Although this did take a little time to create, I definitely feel that it was worth it and will bring a smile to someone's face. You could even decorate the front of the house for different occasions.

Here is a look at the treat bag with the candy inside. I created the treat bag so that the door will open, but I did not make a feature of that. However, you definitely could and it would be fun to be able to peek through to see what is inside the bag!
