Meet Hero's Heroes: Libby!

Back by popular demand - Hero's Heroes, a blog feature where we introduce you to members of the Hero Arts family. Every other month we will show you the people behind the scenes who work hard to bring you quality products and inspiration. We call them Hero's Heroes because they are how we do what we do!

Let's get to know Libby Hickson!

What do you do for Hero Arts and how long have you been here?
I had my 10 year anniversary with Hero Arts back in November, wow! I've done many things over the years - these days my role is Education and Marketing. If you've ever tuned into one of our Facebook Lives for a monthly release, that's me! I also manage our Creative Team of artists who bring you all of the inspiration here on the blog. I travel to industry tradeshows and store events to teach classes or run make & takes. My favorite thing is working with the independent brick & mortar stores - they are a treasure, and if you have one near you, consider yourself lucky and visit often!

What are 3 words to describe Hero Arts?
Outstanding Designs, Generous Hearts, My People
(Oops I think I may have cheated a little!)

Where you are from originally. Family info?
I've been married for almost 22 years, and have 2 kids - a 14 year old son and 12 year old daughter. I grew up in Michigan, but now live in the Atlanta area after spending about 15 years in Austin, Texas. Hero is located in the Bay Area of California, so I work remotely. I miss being able to see my coworkers regularly, but I also enjoy being able to work in my PJs...

What do you enjoy doing in your personal life?
First and foremost I'm a soccer mom! Both kids play soccer, and my son plays basketball, too, so a lot of my free time is taken up getting them to practices and watching their games. And I love to watch them play!

Best vacation you’ve been to?
This past September we went on a family vacation to Spain! It was amazing. I feel so fortunate that our kids could experience this. And now my dream is to someday retire to Barcelona. (Oh, add this to what I should be doing in my personal life - I need to learn Spanish!)

If your house was burning down, what is the one non-living thing you would save?
I have a painting of my kids that my Gramma painted before she passed away, and I treasure it. My Gramma was incredibly talented, and if I have any artistic ability at all, I inherited it from her.

Thank you, Libby, for helping us to get to know you better. We are grateful that you are part of the Hero Arts family!
