MMH Countdown to Creativity

We're back with another look at our next My Monthly Hero kit, launching on Monday, March 7 at 9am eastern! This morning we gave you a little hint about the artist behind our March kit. She really, REALLY likes markers - especially Copic markers! A few of you know Marianne Walker's work when you see it! We are so thrilled to have her joining us for this kit!

Marianne is the Product Director for Imagination International Inc, the North American importer for Copic Markers. She has worked for Copic for over 15 years. In that time, she has authored or co-authored 8 books on coloring with Copic markers. Marianne has been a freelance illustrator for many years, including designing stamps for the stamp company Our Craft Lounge. Marianne has a BFA in Multimedia Design from the University of Oregon. She is a happily married mother of 2 kids, enjoys gardening, reading, and is very devout in her faith, teaching Sunday School each week.

She created a cute little card for today's post. Take it away, Marianne!

I’m so excited to be part of this awesome kit with Hero Arts! I must say, it was a lot of fun to draw and color these happy images.

For this project I used the cute coloring page with the snail. Whenever I make a project, I like to carefully choose my color scheme, and since Spring is just around the corner, I wanted to go with a nice, bright range of colors (I worked with Copic colors YG41, YG45, G24, G28, Y02, Y38, YR27, RV02, R85, V12, BV11, BV13, V04, R59, B00, BG000, BV20…and a bunch more)

I also wanted to experiment with a lot of different snail colors, so I played and played and played, as you can see from the photo. I write the colors that I’m experimenting with on the back of each image in pencil, so once I like one, I know which colors I’ve gone with. I won’t bore you with all the colors I used, but I encourage you to also experiment and play.

Snail Card by Marianne Walker for Hero Arts

I layered my snail with some X-Press It high tack foam tape, and mounted the whole card onto some fun colored paper. I finished with pearls in the corners. I wanted the card to be simple, since the focus of the card is my little snail.

I am really looking forward to seeing some uber cute cards and flowers from this month’s kit. I hope you also have as much fun coloring as I’ve had!

YAY!!! We are so very excited about this kit! Marianne's images are so fun, and they are putting us in the mood for spring! She gave an interesting hint about kit contents, did you catch it? :-)

We'll be back all weekend long, sharing more peeks. Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all of the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, before the kit launches at noon eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

See you again soon!
