Making Metallics Pop

Michelle Short

Hello there, Michelle here sharing a duo of Thanksgiving cards using the same supplies but with slightly different designs and different metallic colours. I really love using metallics on white cardstock, but where I think that they really shine, is on darker colours. Today I am using the beautiful Nautical cardstock as a backdrop for them.

I started off my cards by taking two 4.25" x 5.5" panels of Hero Hues Nautical Cardstock and placing them into the MISTI. I then placed the leaves from the Textured Leaves stamp set on top, making sure to have some leaves overlapping the edges of the cardstock and then closed the lid of the MISTI.

The panels were prepped with an anti-static powder tool then the leaves were inked up using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink and stamped on to the two panels. The embossing powder was then applied and the excess tapped off. For one panel I used Gold Embossing Powder, the other Copper Embossing Powder. They were then heat set until completely melted.

To add some more dimension to the panel, I blended on Navy Mid-Tone Shadow Ink, as as well as a little Black Ink around the bottom area of the panels. I then used a dry cloth to remove any ink from the embossing. The panels were then adhered to A2 sized card bases, that I made from more Nautical Cardstock, with tape runner.

For the panel with copper embossing powder, I took the Rose Gold from the Rose Gold & White Glimmer Metallic Inks set and splattered some of this over the card using a paintbrush. It was then set aside to dry.

I took the sentiments from the Thanksgiving Table stamp set and stamped these on to more Nautical Cardstock with the Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. The respective embossing powder was added and heat set. They were cut in to strips and added to the card with foam tape. To finish off, I added a few Clear Hero Hues Enamel Dots to the gold card.

Do you like using metallics? I think they worked really well for these cards. Thank you so much for stopping by today. Happy stamping!

Very pretty. I will have to try spattering more when I make cards. It really adds a lot to them.
