It’s the Little Things

Birds are so pretty and one of the things that I like about them, is their vibrant colors which have always amazed me. Certainly, I can never have enough stamps of little birds, and coloring this type of image with markers can be a lot of fun. Today I am featuring a pretty set of woodblock stamps called [hero_product_link sku="LP409" text="A Little Birdie"]. This set includes five stamp images and two different sentiments.

The cards that I made this time are similar. I used the same stamps, but the colors and design of the cards were different. For the first card, I got my color inspiration from the Eastern Blue Bird. So, I created a background using different colors of Layering paper and inks. I used three different large background stamps: [hero_product_link sku="CG691" text="Garden Bold Prints"], [hero_product_link sku="CG689" text="Foliage Bold Prints"], and [hero_product_link sku="CG688" text="Pearl Strings Bold Prints"]. I began by stamping [hero_product_link sku="CG691" text="Garden Bold Prints"] onto a card base. Then, I stamped two different colors of card stock strips with [hero_product_link sku="CG689" text="Foliage Bold Prints"], and [hero_product_link sku="CG688" text="Pearl Strings Bold Prints"], and I adhered them onto the card base. I also white-embossed the sentiment over a strip of black card stock, and adhered it.

The focal point of my card is the bird image, which was simply stamped over [hero_product_link sku="PS610" text="Snow Layering paper"] with  [hero_product_link sku="NK345" text="Intense Black Ink"], colored with markers, and then I die cut it into a circle. I adhered the circle with foam dots. At the end, I decided to use seam binding ribbon, stitches, gemstones and pearls as embellishments.

Card number two has a simpler design itself, and I chose a Yellow Warbler Bird as my inspiration. The background was stamped with [hero_product_link sku="CG689" text="Foliage Bold Prints"] and [hero_product_link sku="AF222" text="Soft Olive Shadow Ink"]. I stamped the little birdie over [hero_product_link sku="PS610" text="Snow Layering paper"] with [hero_product_link sku="AF214" text="Cup O'Joe Mid Tone Shadow Ink"], colored with markers, and trimmed into a rectangle. I matted the panel with a piece of Layering Paper, and then adhered the panel over the card. I white-embossed the sentiment over a strip of black card stock, and I put it below the birdie image with foam dots.

The final touches were sequins, gemstones and pearls.

Birds are fun, especially because of their pretty colors and using them as inspiration can be a great way to create your very own color combos and have a lot of fun stamping your cards or crafty projects.
