Ink Blending On Colored Cardstock
Caly Person
Hi, Friends! I've got a quick and easy card for you today and sharing how some ink-blending on colored cardstock can add a lot of deep color and interest to your card. Hero Arts has amazing scenery dies - and this Garden Fancy Die is no exception.

The scene that is created from the die speaks for itself - so it's all about filling in the background (or the die cut panel itself). Today, I'm focusing on the background and cutting the top panel in simple white.

I find that ink-blending over colored cardstock makes ink-blending more effortless because some color is already there, so you don't have to work as hard. My card today uses Mist Hero Hues Premium Cardstock - a beautiful light blue. After die-cutting, I trimmed a quarter inch off just the sides for a pop of color.

Then to add some dimension and depth, I ink-blended just the area where the die exposes blue cardstock using Deep Ocean Ink. I blended more color on the outer edges and lighter moving in and down. To finish the card, I embossed the sentiment using White Detail Embossing Powder using the Hero Greetings Sending Smiles stamp set. Before adhering the die-cut panel over the ink-blended panel, I decided to add some linen thread (thin twine) to the bottom of the card to give it a sweet finish.
I hope you enjoyed this card! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Wow, I was just thinking about using this technique to save time! Thank you.
