Happy Birthday Handsome
Kelly Rasmussen
I hear a lot of people say that they struggle with making masculine cards. And I am right there with you! I am naturally drawn to more feminine colors and designs, so it takes some extra thought and planning to create a design that doesn't look too girly. So today I created a masculine birthday card that has a simple design that uses some basic shapes to create the foundation of the card.
I started out by creating a circle mask using the Circle Infinity Dies and placing it on a piece of Azure Layering Paper. Then I used the Pop Pattern Stencil and embossing paste to create the textured background. I tinted my white embossing paste with blue ink to create the tone on tone effect. The pattern of this stencil reminds me of a metal diamond plate pattern you would see in a garage or on a toolbox, so it seemed perfect to use for a masculine card.
Once I removed the masking paper and the embossing paste was dry, I adhered this panel to a Snow Folded Card along with a strip of Mandarin Layering Paper along the left side.
I die cut a tag using the Tag Infinity Dies from Snow Layering Paper and stamped my sentiment from the Birthday Messages stamp set. I love the mix of fonts in this set and I think adding the word "handsome" makes this card really fun!
I tied on some twine, popped up the tag with some foam adhesive and rounded two corners of the card to finish it off.
With the right products and mind set a masculine card isn't so hard to make after all! Switch out the message on the tag and this same card design could be used for many other occasions as well.
Have a great day!

Great card. Love how you used the stencil and the simplicity. I make a lot of masculine cards and generally go with a geometric design of some sort…it works.

Superb masculine card!
Love the masculine birthday card. That’s a very interesting technique that you did with the infinity die and the stencil. I always seem to have trouble making masculine cards and that’s a great idea. Thanks for sharing it with us!
