Video: Handmade Christmas Home Decor
Hey crafty friends! This is Mindy Eggen. One of the first things that drew me into paper crafting was being able to create my own home decor and Christmas cards. Today I'm sharing how I am using stencils and dies to create a custom home decor piece.
(If you are having trouble viewing this video you can watch it HERE on our YouTube channel.)
Everything is explained in the video so down below I will walk through the main supplies used.
The stencil I'm going to use as my focus for my home decor is the new Color Layering Holiday Neighborhood Stencil. I'm using the ink colors Moss, Raspberry Jam and Forever Green to color in the images with my blending brushes on Deluxe White cardstock.
I'm going to create a double frame for my design using the Nesting Rectangles Infinity Dies and layer together with foam tape.
Some of the additional items I'm using are the bow from Holly Berries Stamp & Cut XL; sprigs from the Winter Foliage Stamp & Cut XL; and sentiment from the Christmas Holidays Stamp & Cut XL.
If you are a subscriber to the My Monthly Hero Kits, then you know they always have some fun additional products in them. I am using the White Acrylic Spray from the October My Monthly Hero Kit to add white splatter to my ink blended design and sprigs that I cut from Pesto cardstock.
On the sentiment, I die cut the words from Deluxe White cardstock, Gold Glitter Paper and the shadow layer with vellum. This will help create depth and separation from the busy background.
Do you mix gold and silver on your projects? I normally don't but I did today! With the sentiment die cut from Gold Glitter Paper, I die cut the bow from Silver Glitter Paper.
The size of this ends up measuring 6 3/4" x 5 1/4" which makes it the perfect home decor piece. The white frames gives a place for your eye to rest with all that is going on.
Some other products that I found helpful: the Reverse Tweezers, Precision Glue, and Compact Cutter
I bet if you took a look in your stash you could find lots of products to create a beautiful home decor piece to display during the holidays.
Hope this has inspired you!

MIndy, thanks for the video! I love the little decor piece you created, and you were perfectly easy to understand, but I hope you feel better soon!
