Grateful Challenge!

Nov 17, 2018 Lisa Stein

Good morning! Lisa here to entice you to join our challenge this month at A Blog Named Hero. Our challenge theme is "Grateful" which is very appropriate for this time of year.

I've made a simple "Thanks" card because I was in need of one, and thought it was a smarter sentiment for someone that I've just met. I used the Peonies Die Combo stamp and die set on this card, in an interesting way. Let me explain.

I placed the large floral die onto a piece of watercolor paper and with a wet paintbrush, filled in the area with clean water. I removed the die and then started dropping in the Purple Liquid Watercolor. Swoon. I love this color, it's just the perfect purple. I let that dry, and kept adding some more color here and there. No rhyme or reason, as I am not a watercolor expert. Ha!

While the purple was drying I added some color to the background using the Liquid Watercolor in Moss. I added a few layers of that as well, just back and forth between the flower and the background.

When I was happy with the colors of both sections I dried it with my heat tool and then used Intense Black ink and Clear Embossing Powder to stamp the large floral image on top. It doesn't match up perfectly, it's a more organic fit, which I adore. I also heat embossed the sentiment, after performing a bit of stamp surgery. Don't ever worry about doing that; it's a bit of a thrill! And when I do it, I try to leave a defined edge, or triangle, so I can easily fit the sentiment back together, as designed.

To finish the card I splattered on some black dots using the Liquid Watercolor. The dots are perfectly black and not faded, which makes my crafty heart go pitter patter. I used the Postage Infinity Dies to cut out the perfect section of my card front and then popped that up onto a card base with some foam adhesive.

I really like the bold and graphic design of this card, I wish I had made multiples. I am thankful that Hero Arts continues to make such beautifully designed and high quality products for us to use.

Please do join us at A Blog Named Hero this month for our challenge. I know you have the need for a Grateful or Thankful card, and there are prizes to win!
