Feather Smooshing with New Liquid Watercolors

Good day to you and thank you for joining us here at Hero Arts! We are so happy to have you!

In just two more sleeps Hero Arts will be releasing new Liquid Watercolors. I've been itching to play with them so I gave them a whirl with the Paper Layering Feather die.

To create this card, die cut a few feathers with Bristol (my choice) or other water tolerating paper. Drip a few drops of Strawberry, Pine and Deep ocean watercolors onto a craft sheet along with a couple of drops of water. "Smoosh" or press each feather into a color creating unique patterns. Smoosh again in another color, or layer on more of the same. I like to allow layers to dry between for watermark effects. There really is no wrong way to go about it.

As the watercolor dries it tends to settle into the veins of the feathers pronouncing them further. I love that detail!

The Fabulous Flourish in the background was distressed by inking with Silver Shadow Ink and dabbing a bit of color back off the stamp with a paper towel before stamping onto Snow Layering Paper.

The white heat embossing sentiment on charcoal Midnight Mixed Layering Paper, tulle, golden thread and a few sequins from the Champagne mix finish off the card.

Thank you for choosing to spend a few moments of your time with us today.

Until next time,

Janette, I have never ‘Smooshed’ before and it seems to be the ‘in thing’ to do at the moment. I need to get ‘smooshing’ don’t I? I do, if I want the effect you got on these feathers for your design. So cool! :O)
