Family is Everything
Good morning! Emily Midgett here with you today sharing a special project for a special campaign that the folks at Hero Arts have created. The wonderful designers at Hero Arts have designed a pair of new woodblock stamps: Family Is Everything and Holding Hands.
The best part? As part of the Families Together cause, Hero Arts will contribute 100% of net profits from these two stamps to the UNICEF Child Refugee campaign.
For today's post, I have created a project using both the Holding Hands and Family Is Everything stamps to create a quintessential modern family, one that is blended from all backgrounds and walks of life, holding tight to each other in this crazy world.
I began by stamping the image from Holding Hands onto some white card stock using Soft Granite ink, then die cut it using the Infinity Heart Dies.
I chose the light gray Soft Granite ink because I wanted to do some no-line coloring using my Polychromos pencils. Using the lighter ink allows me to still see the lines of the image while still making them "disappear" when the image is completely colored.
After I had finished coloring the Holding Hands image, I added the Family is Everything woodblock stamp to an A2 card base using Intense Black ink. Finally, I used foam tape to pop up the pencil colored heart die cut to add some extra dimension to the card front. I love how the image just pops off of that bright white card front to really allow your eyes to focus on the details of the hands and fingers intertwined.
Well, that's all for me today! I encourage you to go check out our Giving page. Hero Arts is a wonderfully generous company who donates the profits made from the products listed on the Giving page to very worthy organizations. This new Families Together campaign is just the latest in a long line of campaigns dedicated to helping others. Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a marvelous day!
