Custom Striped Cardstock with Snowflake Star Die Set
Jennifer Kotas
Hello! Jen Kotas here today with a Christmas card featuring the Snowflake Star Etched Dies from the Very Merry Collection. I’m sharing how to make the striped star from cardstock and one of my favorite ways to add a subtle background.
- Cut 1/4” x 5 1/2” pieces of Poppy, Cranberry, Rainforest and Fern ColorWheel Cardstock. Cut five strips of each color.
- On a half sheet of printer paper add tape runner to completely cover area slightly larger than the star die.
- Place strips over adhesive making sure they are right up against each other.
- Die cut the star die from the Snowflake Star Etched Dies using the striped cardstock made above. Place it at an angle so you don’t have to worry about everything being straight.
- Die cut the snowflake die from the Snowflake Star Etched Dies once from Antique White glitter cardstock and twice from Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock. Adhere together.
- Stamp a 4" x 5 1/4” panel of Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock with the Jingle Bells Script Bold Prints using Contour Ink. Adhere to an A2 card base.
- Adhere star to card using thin foam squares then add snowflake with liquid glue.
- Stamp the sentiment from Modern Holiday Greetings Stamp and Cut with Cherry Core Ink. Cut out with coordinating die and adhere to card with thin foam squares.
When making striped cardstock it’s better to use a thin paper so it doesn’t add bulk, making die cutting difficult. I also find it better to use a tape runner instead of liquid glue as it allows for readjusting the pieces.
Thanks for visiting!
