Custom Birthday Cards

Aug 31, 2023 Mindy Eggen

Hello my crafty friends! It's Mindy here today to share inspiration on how to customize your birthday cards! Have you seen the new Number Fancy Dies from the Oh Joy Holiday release? They are absolutely perfect for this! You can get the numerals individually or all together in a discounted bundle.

I am creating two versions of this card using the exact same products but just changing up the colors.

The Number Fancy Dies are great for anniversaries, holidays and best of all... birthdays! We can now customize the age of the front of the card. Of course, this is more fun when it's for a kid but a golden birthday would be fun too!

My son will be turning 13 this year and although I will need to buy him a Mickey Mouse card, I used his age as inspiration. I am using the Number One Fancy Die and Number Three Fancy Die.

The die set gives you a few options to work with: large number, small number and spelled out words. I used the large number for my card to make it the focal point of the card.

To add a little festivity to the background, I ink blended on the Streamers Stencil. For my first version, I ink blended Cornflower and Kiwi Core Ink onto Deluxe White cardstock using my blending brushes.

Since I wanted this to be subtle, I removed the stencil and went back over the background with those same colors.

I can't resist adding splatters so I brought out the Gold and White Glimmer Metallic Inks.

For my second version, I ink blended the Streamers Stencil using Ultra Pink and Amethyst Core Ink.

These numbers fit perfectly in my Compact Cutter which I always have handy on my desk! Each number is layered up three times using my Reverse Grip Tweezers and Precision Glue to build up dimension and add to the front of my card.

I used the same sentiments for each card which come from the Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL and Yay! Birthday Bundle. Each one is stamped in Embossing Ink onto Pitch Black cardstock and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder to really make it pop off the front of the card.

I love the staggered look of the sentiments while the large number gets the spotlight.

Have you enjoyed today's inspiration! Thanks for stopping by.
