Creating Reflections using Vellum

Good morning! Jess here, beginning to veer away from Christmas cards and more towards winter! I'm using vellum to easily create a reflection for my cute polar bear from Polar Greetings!

To start I inked the Star Light Star Bright cling stamp with Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink. Then I spritzed the stamp with White Iridescent Spray a few times and used my MISTI to stamp it onto white cardstock. I repeated it one more time to get good coverage. Then I set it aside to dry while I worked on the rest of the card. I LOVE that shimmery spray!

While that was drying I stamped the adorable lazy bear from Polar Greetings onto white cardstock and vellum with Versafine and heat-embossed him with clear embossing powder. Then I added a little coloring with cool grey Copic markers and a touch of R00 on his cheek! I die-cut the white cardstock bear with the coordinating die. Once the background panel was dry I trimmed it down to 4" by 5.25." Then I trimmed down the vellum strip, flipped it over to create a mirror image, scored the ends, and folded it around the background panel.  I adhered the vellum flaps behind the background panel so I could hide the adhesive and then adhered the background panel to a white card base. I adhered my white cardstock bear with foam mounting tape and I love how it looks like he's reflected in the ice. Finally I stamped the sentiment from Polar Greetings on black cardstock, heat-embossed it with white embossing powder, and adhered it with foam mounting tape!

And that's it! Around here I'm hoping that winter will start bringing some snow soon and I think my polar bear agrees! ;)

Could NOT resist telling you how this card made me smile!! You REALLY knocked it outta the park by using the reflection technique——so clever! And so realistic! Thanks for sharing!

Love the card and this is a way easier way to make a mirror image then other ways. Will have to give this a try

I love this little guy. He totally sums up how we all feel after Christmas has passed and we face the long, cold winter ahead. So nicely done.

I love your creative, clever and innovative work. It is so inspiring. I am looking forward to participating in one of you chibitronic classes at Creativation. I am so excited about traveling to the 🇺🇸 USA to the event. Enjoy your Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.
