Watch & Learn from Carissa
In this inspiring LIVE, Carissa shows how beautifully different techniques can work together to create layered, elegant cards. She combines letterpress and foiling with soft ink-blended stenciling to build rich, detailed backgrounds that still feel light and tranquil.
Stamping plays an important role as well, adding subtle texture and depth—especially with background designs like the Positive Script Bold Prints Cling Stamp. She then brings everything together with dimensional die cutting, creating layered florals that add movement and interest. Throughout the process, Carissa demonstrates how mixing techniques like foiling, stamping, and blending can feel effortless when you keep a cohesive color palette, resulting in cards that are both polished and full of depth.
Card #1: Dimensional Lotus with Layered Stamped Background
On the first card, the soft background begins with subtle stamped texture, lightly layered to create interest without overwhelming the focal point. By layering the Positive Script Bold Print and a solid image from the Background Builder Stamp Set, it creates a foundation for building the floral arrangement.
The lotus flowers are die cut and brought to life with gentle ink blending, adding depth and dimension to each petal. Layering multiple cuts together creates a full, dimensional bloom, while the addition of leafy greenery grounds the design. The foiled sentiment from the Lovely Labels Letterpress + Foil & Cut is kept clean and crisp, tucked into the arrangement to balance the softness of the background.
Card #2: Elegant Florals with a Golden Touch
The second card takes a slightly different approach while still embracing layered techniques. A beautiful letterpressed background using the Lotus Field Letterpress + Foil Plate sets the stage. To create a focal point a label was die cut from the background and enhanced with delicate stenciling of just a single flower. This is such a creative way to use the Lotus Field Layering Stencil Set for a completely different look.
The sentiment from the Keep Growing Stamp Set was stamped vertically for a fresh, modern twist that draws the eye across the design.
The focal point and letterpressed panel are layered over gold cardstock, adding a polished finish with just the right touch of shine. Coordinating cardstock strips, chosen to echo the colors of the stenciled flower, create a backdrop that helps the label focal point stand out beautifully.
Carissa also recommends choosing your card base color at the end of the process, since it can completely shift the overall look of your design. Here, a clean white card base was selected to keep the focus on the soft colors and elegant details, tying everything together seamlessly.
