Hi friends! It's Mindy, and today I'm excited to share a sweet little project featuring the Hero Arts August 2026 My Monthly Hero Kit . One of my favorite things about this month's kit is how it encourages creativity while making the design process feel effortless.
A feature I especially love is the included cardstock pack with a beautifully curated color palette . Sometimes choosing colors can be the hardest part of starting a project, so having everything already coordinated lets you jump right into creating. It's a wonderful way to spark inspiration and simply enjoy the process.
For today's card, I created an adorable little neighborhood library filled with colorful books and tiny details that make it feel warm and inviting. Watch the video below to see exactly how this interactive little library comes together. I'll walk you through assembling the library, decorating the shelves, and sharing a few tips along the way.
Watch the video and learn how to create this card using the My Monthly Hero kit!
Assemble the Library from the Top Down
Assembly begins by building the library itself from the top down. The dies fit together beautifully, making construction easy while still providing plenty of dimension. I love the subtle woodgrain texture embossed into the front of the library—it adds just enough detail to give it the look of painted wood.
To add a pop of color, I used the Bellini cardstock from the kit for the doors. The embossed guide lines make placing the tiny door handles simple, and the matte gold accents paired with the coral decorative pieces create a charming finishing touch. One of my favorite features is that the doors actually open ! You can leave them open like I did, or add vellum or acetate behind them to create little windows.
A festive banner across the front gives the library even more personality. I mixed colors from the coordinating cardstock pack so every flag complements the project perfectly.
Decorating the Shelves with Tiny Details
Once the library is built, it's time for my favorite part—decorating the shelves! The kit includes four different book styles with layering pieces that allow you to mix and match colors for endless combinations. There's even a cute little potted plant to tuck onto a shelf for an extra cozy touch.
Rather than lining every book up perfectly, try stacking a few, leaning others at an angle, or mixing different colors throughout the shelves. Those little details help the library feel lived in and full of character.
For the background, I used the stencil from the Super Hero Kit to create a soft tone-on-tone design with Bellini cardstock and coordinating ink.
This little library is incredibly versatile, so don't feel limited to this background. Try pairing it with your favorite background stencils or stamps to completely change the look. Create a peaceful outdoor scene with clouds and grass, add a brick or woodgrain pattern, or use seasonal backgrounds to match your books and decorations. It's an easy way to give the library a whole new personality every time you create with it.
Change the Look for Every Season
Although today's project has a cheerful everyday look, this design can easily be reimagined throughout the year. Imagine decorating it with warm oranges and deep reds for autumn, tiny pumpkins on the shelves, or evergreen garland and snowy accents for winter. You could even create a spooky Halloween version, a festive holiday library, or brighten it up with pastel florals for spring. It's the kind of die set you'll find yourself reaching for again and again.
There was just enough space above the banner to tuck in a sentiment from the Library Card Stamp & Cut Set , making it the perfect finishing touch. Finally, I popped the entire library up with thin foam squares to add a little extra dimension and really make it stand out against the background.
I absolutely love how this finished card turned out. The interactive opening doors invite you to take a closer look, and every tiny book and detail helps tell its own little story.
I hope this project inspires you to build a little library of your own and experiment with different colors, backgrounds, and seasonal themes. There are so many ways to make this design uniquely yours.
Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I hope you have a wonderful time creating with your Hero Arts August My Monthly Hero Kit !
