Blackout Coloring + Matching Envelope Art

Hi crafty friends! It's Jeannie and today, I'm sharing a colorful card with a really bold look. There's even an easy matching envelope to pair with the card.

To create this card, I started with a piece of Deluxe Smooth White cardstock along with four Reactive Ink colors: Taffy, Pool Party, Splash, and Thistle, blending them with a mix of Medium and Large Blending Brushes randomly to cover up the card panel.

Then I used the main image from the Folk Art stamp set to stamp directly on top of the colorful card panel using Intens-ified Black ink. If you blended the colors randomly, you'll be a random mix of colors peeking through the different parts of the image. To create a bold look, it just takes a simple trick: a black alcohol marker! I used it to color around the image and you get that great color contrast. For the sentiment, I stamped the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the same Folk Art stamp set on a strip of white cardstock. To finish off the card, I just matted it on a piece of white cardstock.

Now onto the matching envelope, I used the same Medium and Large Blending Brushes to ink up the bottom edge and corners of my blank, white envelope. I do this with a pretty light hand. Then I'll use the same Folk Art stamp set to stamp the two corners of the envelope. Here, I chose to color in the leafy bits with the black alcohol marker.

I hope you enjoyed the card and the matching envelope. Thank you for stopping by!
