Art Deco Inspiration

Good morning! Emily Midgett here today with some inspiration using our new Art Deco Thank You kit! For my project today, I did some sleuthing on Pinterest to discover color combinations and general style aesthetics for the Art Deco period. I discovered lots of bold jewel tones mixed with deep black. I drew inspiration from the peacock itself, recreating it's beautiful teal, purple, and blue iridescence with some bold Hero Arts watercolors

I began by heat embossing the peacock with black embossing powder on some watercolor paper, then watercolored it using Dark Teal, Indigo, and Purple watercolors. I fussy cut it out, then used the intricate die included in the Art Deco Thank You kit to create the black die cut edge.

After creating the peacock and the beautifully intricate edge die cut, I trimmed a panel of Pool Layering Paper, then blended Pool ink on the top of the panel, tapering off as it made its way down the panel. I black heat embossed the greeting from the Art Deco kit on a small piece of pale purple card stock from the Floral Layering Paper pack.

After all of the components were complete, I used foam adhesive to adhere all of the different elements to the card front. I added some Ombre Purple Sequins and some Ombre Ocean Sequins to add some sparkle.

Well, that's all for me today! I hope you enjoyed this project... I love finding inspiration from other time periods to use in my crafting! Have a marvelous week, friends!
