April My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #4 + Giveaway!

We're back for another countdown post, leading up to the release of the April My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, April 2nd at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Don’t forget to comment on each and every countdown post as we’ll be giving away a kit on Monday morning, before the kit launches! Now, let's join Ilina with another idea using the kit...

Hi everyone. I hope you are enjoying all the inspiration yesterday and today using the fiesta-themed April My Monthly Hero Kit. For my card today I decided to do a "not standard" size card - 4 1/2" square. I started by creating a template from vellum measuring 4"x4" by drawing 2 lines diagonally and then another 2 through the center (1 vertical and 1 horizontal). I then used this template to stamp the flowers and flourish in a perfect circle using Intense Black ink onto a 4" square piece of alcohol friendly white card stock. Once I was done with the stamping I used Copic markers to color the flowers. I added a vellum overlay on top in order to soften the look of the panel, so when I add the main image on top, the focus is not on the background, but the main image.

I stamped the banner and the little dancing mouse, again using Intense Black ink and colored them using Copic markers. Cut them out and using foam adhesive adhered onto the panel. Lastly, I trimmed a Pool folded notecard down to 4 1/4" and adhered my panel onto it and added some Crystal Lacquer onto the flowers on the mouse's head.

I hope you enjoyed today's peeks and come back tomorrow for more inspiration and ideas. Don't forget to comment for a chance to win a kit before it launches!

Sweet card! Love the mouse in her fiesta finery, and the pretty wreath of flowers around her! Makes me want to make fiesta confetti eggs… a tradition at the fiesta parades in Santa Barbara!

I like the design of this one. The repeating motif in the circle or wreath focuses the attention on the central figure. Nicely done.
