Add Patterns to Clean & Simple Cards

Michelle Short

Hello there, Michelle Short here. Today I have a card to share using Festive Tree Etched Dies, adding patterns to the trees for some added interest.

I started off my card by taking a 4.25" x 5.5" panel of Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock and die cutting the largest Festive Tree Etched Die into it to create an aperture.

I knew I wanted to add cardstock behind, but I thought it would be fun to cut the cardstock at different angles to create a pattern.

I used Teal Topaz ColorWheel Cardstock at the top, Orchid ColorWheel Cardstock in the middle, and Mulberry ColorWheel Cardstock at the bottom. I cut the strips at diagnonals and pieced them together, adhering at the back with tape.

Using the aperture panel as a guide, I adhered the cardstock onto the front of an A2 sized white card base. The panel was then adhered on top using thin foam tape.

I took a panel of Waterfall ColorWheel Cardstock and placed the Snowflake Pattern Stencil on top. Using a Small Blending Brush, I blended Bermuda Core Ink through the stencil to add color to the snowflakes.

Keeping the stencil in place, I added a layer of Hero Paste Glitter on top, applying with a Palette Knife. This not only adds more interest to the card but also adds some sparkle too!

I removed the stencil and then cleaned my stencil and tools and left the panel aside to dry. Once dry, it was die cut out using the smaller of the Festive Tree Etched Dies.

I cut another of the tree from Waterfall ColorWheel Cardstock and adhered it to the back of the stenciled one. They were then adhered to the card using Precision Glue

I stamped the sentiment from Modern Holiday Greetings Stamp & Cut onto white cardstock using Intens-ified Black Ink. It was die cut out using the coodinating die.

I cut the die another two times and adhered them behind the stamped one, before adhering onto the card. To finish, I embellished with Crystal Color Essentials Gems.

I really like how just adding simple patterns to the trees really adds a lot of interest to a clean and simple card. Thanks so much for stopping by today, wishing you a wonderful day!
