You’re Flamingo Fabulous
Flamingos are fabulous birds! They have beautiful pink feathers, long slender legs, gorgeous S-shaped necks and amazing balance. Plus, they live by the water with their equally fabulous friends. Today I'm using the new Color Layering Flamingo stamp set to create images of this extraordinary bird for a pair of fun and feminine cards.
To make my first card, I created a leafy frame by repeatedly stamping all three of the Tropical Leaves wooden stamps around the edges of a panel of white layering paper with Soft Vanilla, Fresh Peach and Pale Tomato inks. When I layer my stamped images, I like to stamp the first layer with the lightest ink and then stamp each subsequent layer with progressively darker inks. And here's a hint - to see how your images will look layered, it's often helpful to stamp the image onto a piece of clear acetate so that you can hold it over your work to help visualize your design.
Next, I stamped the three layers of the Color Layering Flamingo with the same three inks, Soft Vanilla, Fresh Peach, and Pale Tomato carefully aligning each stamp over the previously stamped layer. Then, I stamped the eye and beak with Cup O' Joe ink. I easily cut out the image with the coordinating Color Layering Flamingo Frame Cut. I adhered the stamped flamingo to a piece of die-cut craft foam before adding it to the card front. I finished the card with a stamped sentiment from the set, a bit of glitter on the flamingo, a few scattered pearls, and a peach satin bow.
While I had my supplies out, I made a second, similar card. However, this time, since I was not making a frame, I was careful not to overlap any of the Tropical Leaves when I stamped them onto a panel of white cardstock. For variety, I stamped a lovely, script sentiment from the Color Layering Let Love Grow set before adding the finishing details.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
