Woodgrain Texture + Fall Leaves
Kelly Rasmussen
My favorite season, Fall, is soon approaching and the leaves on the trees are beginning to change into gorgeous shades of orange, yellow and red. Today's card is inspired by this beautiful season that goes by way too fast in my opinion.
I decided to build my card on a white tag that I die cut from the Tag Infinity Dies. I added some texture to the tag using the Woodgrain stencil and white embossing paste.
The leaves, which I believe are the star of the card, were made using the Color Layering Grateful Leaves stamp set. To create the variation of color and texture on the leaves I used a really simple technique. I inked up the solid portion of the leaf with 2 or 3 colors of Mid-Tone Shadow Inks, spritzed it with water and stamped it on white cardstock, holding it there for about 10 seconds to allow the water to soak into the paper. Then once that was dry I went in and stamped the leaf veins using Cup O' Joe ink.
In case you are curious about the ink colors I used on each leaf, here they are:
- Orange Leaf: Orange Soda, Dark Quartz and Pale Tomato
- Green Leaf: Green Hills, Lime Green and Field Greens
- Yellow Leaf: Butter Bar, Pumpkin Pie and Green Hills
- Red Leaf: Pale Tomato, Raspberry Jam and Red Royal
For the message, I used the Thanks Stamp & Cut set. I die cut the word from brown cardstock and covered it in Glossy Accents. The small sentiment was stamped on a white strip of cardstock with Raspberry Jam ink.
Once my tag was completely assembled, I adhered it to a kraft card base that I added a woodgrain texture to with the new Woodgrain Texture Fancy Die. I think it's a great complement to the woodgrain tag and multicolored leaves.
Hope you enjoyed the card and thanks for stopping by today!
Cool card! Love all the different elements used!
Gorgeous leaves on the infinity tag, Kelly! Perfect on the woodgrain!!
Perfectly stunning!!!!
What a gorgeous card!! The colours of fall are amazing, so deep and rich, and you captured them so nicely in your leaves. I love the woodgrain texture on the card base and the tag! It adds so much to the “feel” of the card. AND, after seeing your beautiful work I’m definitely convinced that I NEED the woodgrain texture fancy die. Love it!!
Such a lovely creation!! :)
