Welcome our Special Guest - Jenn Shurkus!
Today we're excited to share creativity from a very special guest – Jenn Shurkus! If you know Jenn, you know that she loves creating with the Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils. The way she combined them with our stamps and dies is simply magical. Let's take a look...
I created these three cards using watercolor pencils and watercolor cardstock. First, scribbling directly onto the Rough Dot Bold Prints stamp with watercolor pencils, misting with water and stamping onto watercolor cardstock.
I then misted the stamp again with water, and stamped on a new piece of watercolor cardstock. Pigment that was still on the stamp was reactivated and transferred.
And for a third time I misted with water, and stamped onto a third background. This gave me three similar backgrounds, but the intensity of pigment and color a little less each time.
I then did the same thing with the Positive Script Bold Prints stamp, layering this on top of my backgrounds.
I die cut some circles, letters, and the word "together" out of watercolor cardstock and painted them with watercolor pencils. For the letters and the words I painted gray first, then overlayed a color while the gray paint was still wet, giving it this cool marble look.
I then stamped some of the sentiments from the Together Stamp & Cut as well as Encouragement Sentiment Strips and added them to the cards.
I love to create cards like this that are full of encouragement and can be sent any time of year!
Thank you so much Jenn, your cards are beautiful and uplifting! Be sure to visit Jenn over on her website Creative Chick. In addition to creating fabulous cards, she also hosts in-person and virtual events and classes!
And speaking of classes, many of the products Jenn shared today are the same products our teachers will be using during the Summer 2023 Mixed Media Stamp-Along! They are included in our Stamp-Along Bundle, which is available at 15% savings. And Jenn used watercolor pencils on her cards – could a similar look be achieved using Reactive Inks, or even Liquid Watercolors? Experiment, play and find out!
