Watercoloring a Galaxy with Liquid Watercolors
Good morning! Jess here with a watercolored galaxy card using Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors with the new Galaxy Peek-A-Boo Parts set!
I created a short process video sharing how I created the background using Liquid Watercolors in Dark Teal, Deep Ocean, Indigo, and Black that you can watch below or on Youtube here:
I started by taping a piece of cold press watercolor paper to a hardboard. Then I added drops of Liquid Watercolor onto my palette and added a few drops of water to each color. I wet the paper and added a very light layer of color on the paper, concentrating the colors on the top left and bottom right. If the color got too dark I used a paper towel to pull up some of the color. I dried it completely with my heat gun and then added three more layers of color getting darker with each layer. I made sure the paper was dry between each layer. At this point you're probably thinking this does NOT look like a galaxy (believe me, that's what I was thinking!) but a few splatters of white gouache and a spray of silver glitter spray and it's back on track! ;)
Once the background panel was done I placed it in my MISTI and stamped the Galaxy Peek-A-Boo Parts onto the panel with Embossing and Watermark Ink and heat-embossed it with White Embossing Powder. Then I placed the panel back inside my MISTI and stamped it again with the same embossing ink. This time I heat-embossed it with Sparkle Embossing Powder. It just gives the design a little extra shimmer when it catches the light! Next I stamped the sentiment from Galaxy Peek-A-Boo Parts onto Hero Hues Pitch Black Cardstock with Embossing and Watermark Ink and heat-embossed it with White Embossing Powder. Then I used the Square Infinity Dies to die-cut the sentiment into a little square. I die-cut the Nature Border Fancy Die from Hero Hues Pitch Black Cardstock and adhered it to the galaxy panel with Liquid Precision Glue. Finally I added the sentiment with foam mounting tape to finish the card.
And that's it! I hope you enjoyed my card and thanks so much for stopping by! Have a fantastic day!

This is so pretty. The background looks great and I love that frame die.
Great card! I recently had to come up with a “star themed” birthday card for someone and used the Milky Way Window fancy die since I owned it, but this would have certainly fit the bill. I love the way you created the background colors!
