Watercolor Happy Thanksgiving Card
Yana Smakula
I love Fall! As I am writing this post our balcony door is open and I can feel fresh Autumn air - it's been anticipated so much after a hot Summer.
With Fall come several holidays including the biggest one - Thanksgiving. Today I have a watercolor card to share with you created using Hero Arts Color Layering Thanksgiving stamp set. This is a layering set which allows you to add color using solid layers and ink pads, but also can be used to practice coloring using your favorite medium.
I started working on my card by stamping "Happy Thanks" and "Giving" in clear embossing ink onto Arches Hot Pressed watercolor paper. I added Gold embossing powder and heat set images with my heat tool. I wanted to do some quick watercoloring for this card so I picked watercolor paper instead of a regular cardstock and I also used embossing powder instead of ink to help me stay within the lines and prevent watercolors seeping outside the letter outlines.
I used my Daniel Smith watercolor paints and colored these using just a few colors - yellow, red and green. By mixing yellow and red I was able to create orange, and by mixing red and green I got a beautiful rich brown.
I also heat embossed and watercolored a background for my card using one of the new Bold Prints Cling stamps - Vine Pattern. Here's a photo of this background:
After heat embossing in Gold I wet the paper with a large flat paint brush and added same yellow, red and green colors.
I adhered my background onto an A2 top folding card base, foam mounted my watercolor sentiment on top and embellished my card using sequins from several mix sets from Hero - Ombré Blush and Champagne.
Have fun stamping!
