Video: Small Stamps, Big Backgrounds

When I first saw the new Origami Happy Holidays, I immediately knew I wanted to do a “stained glass” sort of card. As I was making the card, I realized how versatile images are! You can not only use them as focal points, but as backgrounds, and there are SO many possibilities there! So today’s cards focus on just that – taking a stamp set with a lot of smaller images, and making cool backgrounds with them.

For my “stained glass” card, I heat embossed the images on watercolor cardstock in white. I then colored them in with some Distress Inks, let it dry, and then topped it with a white heat embossed sentiment.

I colored these pretty loosely (read: lazily), just because they’re so pretty and I can get away with coloring loosely. ;)

Now, for the second card, I decided to make it even simpler, by doing some swanky embossing in gold, flicking with some pretty gold shimmer, and calling it a day.

For the sentiment, I heat embossed it on black as well, and added some gems to finish it off.

I go into a little more detail in the video below…
