Video: Partial Background Heat Embossing and More Stamping Tips
Background stamps, especially Bold Prints 6x6 Clings are always fun to use! Be it a portrait or a landscape A2 card - they work perfectly. Today I'm using [hero_product_link sku="CG695" text="Irregular Grid"] stamp and making only a partial impression to create map-like backgrounds for my cards.
There's a fantastic card example in [hero_product_link sku="PS916" text="Summer 2016 catalog"] where dark brown ink is used over light brown paper for a desert-like look. To me however, the [hero_product_link sku="CG695" text="Irregular Grid"] stamp looks like a city grid (and this is actually what inspired artists at Hero to create it). When I look at this stamp I see city streets, city districts, city pipe lines.

I wasn't sure what colors of ink I wanted to use for my ink blended maps, so I [hero_product_link sku="PW110" text="heat embossed"] several partial backgrounds and inked them up using a variety of colors. You can see all of my backgrounds on video, here I'm only sharing 3. I used [hero_product_link sku="AF222" text="Soft Olive"], [hero_product_link sku="AF212" text="Pool"], [hero_product_link sku="AF223" text="Tide Pool"], [hero_product_link sku="AF226" text="Soft Granite"], [hero_product_link sku="AF207" text="Butter Bar"] and [hero_product_link sku="AF263" text="Ultra Pink"].
Instead of using my usual ink blending tool, I used [hero_product_link sku="MI002" text="mini finger tip daubers"] for precise color application. To dress up my map backgrounds I decided to add flowers. I went with [hero_product_link sku="CL949" text="You're So Lovely"] stamp set and [hero_product_link sku="DI167" text="matching dies"] and stamped those using [hero_product_link sku="AF207" text="Butter Bar"], [hero_product_link sku="AF145" text="Soft Apricot"] and [hero_product_link sku="AF222" text="Soft Olive"]. Be sure to watch my video to see how I did circular ombre inking on a round object such as flower.
Once I adhered my ink blended panels onto card bases I foam mounted the flowers, adhered the leaves and add a big [hero_product_link sku="DC151" text="die cut Hello"] along with a heat embossed sentiment. I went with I Miss You from the [hero_product_link sku="DC151" text="Hello Stamp & Cut set"], Home is Where You Make it and We Moved Come Visit sentiments from the [hero_product_link sku="CL951" text="Town Essentials"] stamp set.
I had a blast making these cards and I have plenty of ink blended background left to more.
I hope I was able to inspire you and give you a few tips for your stamping and cardmaking.
