Video: My Favorite Hero Arts Products of 2022
Hello there, Michelle here with something a little bit different for you. For the last video of 2022, I thought I would share some of my favorite Hero Arts products with you, focusing on tools and mediums.
I LOVE stamps, dies, stencils and foil plates, but it is easy to get caught up with all the new products and forget the staples that we use everyday – tools, mediums and cleaning products. I do share a sneaky peek at some of my favorite inks, stamp set, stencil and dies in the video too!
You can watch the video below to see what my favorites are:
(If you are having trouble viewing this video, please watch it HERE on YouTube.)
First up is the Compact Cutter Machine. The Compact Cutter takes care of your small and quick die cutting needs. Featuring an extended 3" x 8.5" cutting surface, it cuts a variety of materials and is compatible with thin metal dies. It comes with three cutting plates but replacement plates are available to purchase too.
Although this machine is small (compared to full-size die cutting machines), it is the one that I use the most! It is so handy to have on my desk because it doesn't take up much space and is lightweight and portable too. I use it all the time for cutting sentiments strips and things like that, but you will find that you can fit a surprisingly large amount of dies through this machine, despite its small size!
And don't forget Metal Snippers to cut the dies apart. These are a must have!
Next up is one of my favorite mediums – paste. There is currently Hero Paste (which is white), White Pearl, Glitter and Gold. Pastes can be used in lots of different ways to add texture and dimension to your projects. They can even be mixed with Inkers to change the color.
My favorite is the Glitter Paste. It is just so sparkly and beautiful! It can be tinted with Inkers, like I have done on the card above, or simply used as is to add sparkle and shine! My favorite way is to use paste through stencils with the Hero Tools Palette Knife. I show how to do this in the video using the Sprinkled Dots Stencil.
Next up are my second most used tool – Ink Blending Brushes. I do a lot of ink blending and I LOVE these brushes. They come in four sizes - Extra Large, Large, Medium and Small and feature a fine white oval brush head and ergonomic handles.
I find myself gravitating towards the Extra Large and Large brushes for ink blending larger panels of cardstock and the medium for stenciling. I like the small brushes when I want to ink blend on small die cuts and also if I am adding a very dark colour (like black for example) to darken up other ink blending, like I show in the video.
Don't forget the Handy Holder for holding your brushes. I use this to pop the brushes in once I have used them to keep my desk tidy!
Next up is Hero Wax. This is a new favorite for me, being a clean and simple crafter, I never thought wax was something I would use, but it can be used in so many different ways! You can apply it with your fingers, using a palette knife, through stencils, mix it with water and splatter it or paint with it – skies the limit!
On the card above, I added gold wax around the edges of the hexagons with my fingers and then mixed some with water and splattered it on for more texture and shine. In the video, I also show adding Gold Wax to the bottom of a die cut word for an ombré look.
Wax is currently available in five colors – Gold, Berry, White, Black and Olive. The metallic wax based paste is housed in an adorable 1 oz. tin.
Whilst I actually like cleaning my stamps and stencils, I know that not everyone does, so Hero Arts have made it easy for us! I use ClearDesign Ultra Clean Stamp Cleaner for my stamps, stencils, acrylic blocks and craft mats. Paired with the Scrubber Block, it makes for quick and easy cleaning.
I particularly like to be able to clean my stamps with the stamp still in my stamping platform and the Scrubber Block works perfectly for that. Don't forget, you can also purchase replacement pads for it too!
Last but not least is Glimmer Metallic Inks. These pigment based, permanent metallic inks are acid free and fade resistant. They are sold in sets of two coordinating colors, each packaged in a o.5 oz. glass bottle with an eye dropper screw top.
Current sets are Rose Gold and White, Green and Red, Purple and Blue, Gold and Pewter and Copper and Bronze.
My favorite way to use these inks is for splatter. I love the metallic shine they give! I used White in this way for the card above and also in the video. I just mix with a little water, pick it up with a paintbrush and splatter it onto the project. I love that the inks dry quickly and also with a little dimension.
Of course, I do have lots of other favorite products and I share a peek at some of them in the video – Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL, Tag Infinity Dies, Celebrate Words Fancy Dies, Reverse Grip Tweezers and my favorite Core Ink blend combo – Amethyst, Grape Juice and Pitch Black, but I didn't want the post and video to be too long!
I hope you have enjoyed seeing what my favorite Hero Arts products of 2022 are. What are yours? I would love to know! Thank you so much for stopping by today, happy crafting!

I really liked this video! Would be interested in seeing similar ones from other creative team members, too.
