Video: Mini Ink Cube Techniques
Jessica Frost-Ballas
Good morning!! Today I'm sharing a few fun and easy ways to use your mini ink cubes to create a simple set of get well cards!
I also have a video showing you how to create this look. You can watch the video below or in HD at our Youtube channel here!
I’m using several Bold Inks from Hero Arts to create abstract ocean backgrounds for my get well cards. For my first card I simply take each ink cube and press it to the Snow layering paper card panel before quickly swiping down. I’m using Summer Sky, Aquatic, Deep Ocean, and Indigo hybrid Bold Inks for my card set. Those inks are available as mini ink cubes in the Tropical Waters pack. For my second panel I press the ink cubes to the paper overlapping the colors. My third card uses a similar idea but this time I swirl the pads slightly as I apply them to the paper to create a different pattern. Finally I drag the ink pad across the fourth panel and overlap the colors to create a big wash of ombre blue. Then I dry them with my heat gun. These take a little longer to dry because I’ve applied so much ink to the paper.
While the backgrounds are continuing to dry I stamp the sentiment from You and Me by the Sea onto Snow layering paper three times and heat-emboss it with silver embossing powder. I trim those down to three banners. Once my sentiments are done I test my backgrounds to make sure they’re totally dry by spooning a little embossing powder over them. If the embossing powder sticks to the panel then the ink isn't dry yet. Once they're dry I prep them with a powder tool and then stamp the cute whale tail on each background from You and Me by the Sea using white or silver embossing powder.
On one panel I emboss the sentiment directly onto the card panel with silver embossing powder. For the rest of the cards I adhere the sentiment using foam mounting tape. I vary the placement of each sentiment so the cards aren’t identical! And that's it!
I hope this gives you some new ideas for how to use your mini ink cubes! :) Thanks so much for visiting and have an amazing day!
