Video: Mail It Monday Celebration!
Emily Midgett
Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today, and I'm extra excited because Hero Arts is helping to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of Mail It Monday! This campaign was started by Kimberly Crawford as a means of encouraging cardmakers and crafters to actually send the cards that we make to show our family and friends that we care about them. This campaign has its own Instagram page @mailitmonday, as well as a hashtag #mailitmonday.
Hero Arts has a wide selection of mail-themed products, including Mail Jumble, Happy Mail, Acts of Kindness, You Are Loved Messages, Mail Delivery by the Stamping Village, and Nesting Postage Stamps Infinity Dies.
In today's video, I show you how I combine Mail Jumble, Acts of Kindness, and Mail Delivery to create a card and envelope set that are just waiting to be mailed to a friend!
If you’re having a problem viewing this video, please try watching it HERE in HD on YouTube.
In case you can't watch the video, here's a quick rundown of the steps:
I began by heat embossing the Mail Jumble stamp using White Detail Embossing Powder and the Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink on some Periwinkle cardstock. I then used a blender brush to blend Sea Salt Ink along the edges of the card front to soften the color and add a bit of interest to the background. I also used a red Copic marker to add little touches of red to the details.
I embossed a greeting from Acts of Kindness onto some Dove White Cardstock using Red Embossing Powder, then matted it with a slightly larger rectangle of Cherry Cardstock. I also added a double twine bow using some red and white twine leftover from the DIY Ornament Kit.
Once the card had been designed, I turned my attention to the envelope! Nothing says "this is special" like an envelope that has had a little extra love added to the front! I used my T-square and a black pen to draw some lines for the address of the recipient, then added some hearts from the Acts of Kindness stamp set using Blue Hawaii and Fruit Punch inks, as well as the "stamped with love" from The Stamping Village Mail Delivery set.
Well, that's all for my project today! I hope I've encouraged you to participate in the Mail It Monday campaign. I know that I certainly need an extra push to actually send out some of the cards that I create, so I appreciate Kimberly's reminder that you can brighten anybody's day with a little handmade kindness.
Thanks so much for dropping by, and have a marvelous day!
Such a cute card! I love the little details you added and those pops of red really make the card! Thank you for sharing!
