Video: Inking Dies to Highlight Details featuring the February My Monthly Hero Kit
Hello friends!! It’s Channin here and today I create a colorful card featuring the Butterfly Fancy Dies from the February 2023 My Monthly Hero Premium Kit. (Note: Although the Premium Kit is now sold out, the Classic Kit does remain available at the time of this post.) Check out the video below and/or read the following post to learn how I highlight the details in these gorgeous dies with a simple technique.
Watch below or on the Hero Arts YouTube channel.
To create this card I first die cut some Deluxe Smooth White cardstock with the Butterfly Fancy Dies. I chose four different butterflies and then die cut them out with their corresponding outline and detail dies. Next, I ink blended over the butterflies with the small blending brush and several inks (Ultra Pink, Fruit Punch, Creamsicle, Lemon Drop, Key Lime Fizz, Blue Raspberry, Pool Party, Blue Hawaii & Purple Galaxy) to create a rainbow.
When I finished ink blending all the butterflies, I then inked up the detail dies with Pitch Black ink by rubbing the cut sides down over the ink pad. I then took the inked dies and placed them back over their corresponding butterfly die-cuts and ran them through my Compact Cutter. This transfers the ink from the dies onto the die-cuts, making the details on the butterflies more visible.
Next, I colored the butterfly bodies with a black marker and set them aside. Then with the “a” stencil (included in the February kit) I ink blended an arch of butterflies with the same inks I used for the die-cuts over the front of a Dove White Top Folded Card. Next, I stamped a sentiment onto the card front in Pitch Black. Lastly, I finished the card by adhering the butterfly die-cuts to the card front with foam adhesive.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card and video! Thank you so much for stopping by!
