Video: Customizing Die-Cuts for a Layered Look
Hello there, Michelle here and today I wanted to share how to customize die-cuts. Although the Gumball Machine Fancy Die is a one layer die, you can cut it multiple times from different cardstocks and layer the pieces up to customize it as you wish!
You can watch the video below to see how I made the card, but I also have written instructions and photos below too.
(If you are having trouble viewing this video, please watch HERE on YouTube.)
I started off by die cutting the Gumball Machine Fancy Die from Iris, Amethyst and silver glitter cardstock (Glitter Paper Holiday Sparkle pack) for the machine itself. I cut the clear/glass part from Deluxe Smooth White cardstock and the gumballs from Passion Flower and Ultra Pink cardstock.
Using the Iris pieces as the base layer, I cut parts of the Amethyst layers to add on top. Since there are already indentations and cut marks on the die-cuts, this is easy to do with a pair of scissors. The pieces were adhered on top of the Iris layer using Precision Glue.
I then did the same for the silver glitter paper layers. I wanted the white layer to look like it was see-through, so I took pale blue Copic markers and added two reflection marks on either side. The gumball machine was then adhered to an A2 white card base with thin foam tape.
I stamped the 'happy birthday' sentiment from the Besties Bundle on to Deluxe Smooth White cardstock using Intens-ified Black ink. It was die cut using the coordinating Frame Cut and then adhered to the card with Precision Glue.
I added the gumballs to the machine and then to finish off, I added Sparkle Clear Lacquer Pen to a few of the gumballs to look a little bit like sugar coating.
I hope I have inspired you to try customizing die-cuts with layers. Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you have a great day!
