Hero's Color Layering sets have been favorites of mine for years. I am always anxiously looking forward to a new release to see what new sets there are for us to play with.
That being said I'm very excited to introduce a new, special feature for the Hero Arts blog and YouTube channel called "Color Layering with Yana". In each one of my monthly videos I will explore different ink pad and embossing powder color options for Hero Arts Color Layering sets and will hopefully inspire you to stamp!
In this post and video I'm taking a closer look at the Color Layering Fox set and I have 4 unique color combos to share.
Watch the video tutorial below to learn how I made the cards I'm sharing today and see me explore various color combinations for this stamp set.
If you’re having a problem viewing this video, please try watching it HERE in HD on YouTube.
Let's start with Hero's suggested color combo for this set which is Tangerine, Caramel and Black (please note, I am using Black as the 3rd color for every one of my combos today).
After stamping the fox onto white cardstock I cut it out with the help of coordinating dies and dressed up with the help of a bow tie stamped in Soft Brown ink.
To create a background for this card I Brass heat embossed Forest & Deer Bold Prints background onto brown cardstock, foam mounted panel onto an A2 white card base, foam mounted the fox, added "Hey Foxy" sentiment heat embossed in white and embellished my card using Sunshine Ombre sequins.
To create the next card, Happy Fall, I used Ombré inks in Autumn and Sand to Cup O' Joe as well as black.
I foam mounted my fox onto an A2 card base covered with woodgrain white cardstock, added a few Pumpkin stamped leaves and embellished with sequins.
My color combo #3 included Wet Cement and Soft Granite to Black Ombré ink pads.
I dry embossed a yellow cardstock panel with an Abstract Waves stencil and blended Caramel ink on top.
Next I stamped Hello from the "Hello Stamp & Cut" set in black ink, foam mounted my fox, dressed him up in trendy glasses and embellished this card using same Sunshine sequins.
My final color combo included Soft Brown and Cup O' Joe inks. To make this card I freehand cut a mask, blended Soft Sky ink to create a snowy hill and foam mounted an adult and baby fox.
I also embellished this card using Ombre Ocean Sequins.
There are many more color combos that can work beautifully for this Color Layering Fox set. Do you have this set? Is there a combo you love? Share below!
Have fun stamping!

Love these cards! For me the Autumn Ombré didn’t work out at all for me though – the lightest colour on the pad isn’t an orange but a rather nasty green-ochre colour which is a shame. I’ve not got the Soft Brown or Wet Cement ink pads yet but hope to give the others a go at some point. I’ve found that Soft Vanilla works quite well as a base layer, though I still find the Fox set the most difficult to place exactly, even with the Tim Holtz Stamping Platform (which always shifts the stamp position slightly to the right). Still, it’s all trial and error, and I love watching your videos for ideas!
I really enjoyed the coloring of the fox. All very nice, but loved the one with the baby most. Thanks for sharing.
THANK YOU for the color layering series! You have a great sense of color and techniques and I love your art.
All of the color combos are great. the baby and Mom are my favorite. I look forward to your videos. Thanks
Wonderful cards, Yana! This stamp set was one that I thought I would have to do ‘without’ – only because of my budget! However, I like your cards SO much I may have to get this foxy fellow w/baby after all.! I love watching your tutorials!
Fabulous cards, Yana! I especially love your ombre fox!

This is so great! I love the multiple layer stamps! My favorite has to be the ombre one! It gives it such a great shadow look.
I had never before thought a fox stamp would be high on my list of “want that stamp” but you have shown some great sample cards. I think I need that foxy stamp. Thanks.

I loved all the foxes …. they are so cute..!!!
You did an amazing job on all the foxes really made me think out side the box.
What great combinations of color, they look great!
The cards are very nice in design and color. The only problem I have is with the actual stamp. It looks more like a wolf than a fox. It just seems to have long legs which I have not seen in any pictures of foxes.
Thank you that was great and lovely cards
