Video: Butterfly Shaped Card

Hi everyone! Ilina here. Today I am sharing how to make butterfly shaped cards using the new Nesting Butterflies Infinity Dies.

(If you’re having a problem viewing this embedded video, please try watching it HERE on YouTube.)

To make the card start with a piece of Nautical cardstock measuring 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score and fold in half (to create a side folding card). Position it in landscape orientation and position the second to the largest butterfly die, so that it hangs off the edge of the folded side a little bit. Secure the die and run through your die cutting machine. This will create a folding card, however the top of the wings will be "chopped off". To fix this, die cut a single butterfly, that you will later adhere on top of the folding one.

Tip: You can use any shape dies for this technique, not only butterflies.

Before you move to that step, stamp the flowers from the Beautiful Day Agapanthus set onto the butterfly wings using Versamark ink and emboss in white. Color with pencils. Next, stamp the sentiment and emboss in white, and trim to size. Now you can assemble the card (adhere the top single layer decorated butterfly to the one that is folding) and using foam adhesive add the sentiment strip.

Thank you so much for stopping by and hope you have a creative day!

Wow! thank you for opening my mind to shaped cards. Always make the standard A2 rectangle type card but now I will try something new. Love the colored white flowers on the dark blue card stock.
    Thank you for the inspiration.
