Using Mists for Tone on Tone Backgrounds

Good morning! Jess here using products from our new Valentine's collection for a modern New Year's card! I've enjoyed binge-making Christmas cards for the last few weeks but it was definitely refreshing to make a non-Christmas card today!

I knew I wanted to make a tone on tone background but I wanted to make sure the sentiment would be visible. So I decided to spray a piece of black cardstock liberally with the new Pink Metallic Mist. It's hard to see in the photo but there's just a slight pink sheen to the mist when it's sprayed on dark cardstock and it is gorgeous! I set that aside to dry while I worked on the rest of the card.

Next I die-cut the sentiment using the Luggage Tag Alphabet Frame Dies from black cardstock and arranged them on my grid working surface to make sure they were lined up the way I wanted them. Then I used a piece of Press 'n Seal to pick them up and applied foam mounting tape to the back of each letter. Finally I carefully arranged the letters over the card base and pressed down firmly to adhere the mounting tape to the spritzed panel. Once it was adhered I carefully peeled the Press 'n Seall off. The foam tape really helps make the sentiment pop!

I wanted to make a bunch of bright and colorful holiday drinks so I die-cut the Cocktail Party Stamp & Cut using the new Lovely Layering Papers. I adhered them to the bottom of the panel and then finished the card with a sprinkling of sequins and a few Nuvo drops in rhubarb crumble.

You know me... the sparklier the better and this New Year's card practically glows! I hope you have a wonderful New Year and I look forward to sharing more Hero Arts inspiration in 2018!  See you next year! ;)

Lovely card. That’s a great hot pink to ring in the new year. The sentiment really stands out against the misted background. Happy New Year to the Hero Arts team.
