Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge #4

Apr 10, 2020 Hero Arts

Welcome to our 4th week of the Stay Crafty With Hero challenge! We're so happy to have you joining us. This week our theme is Self Care. During this stressful time, it's important to take the time to relax and do special things for yourself. For this week's challenge, we'd like you to make a card or project just for YOU, using all of your very favorite things! Use your favorite stamps or dies or stencils, your favorite mediums, your favorite colors, your favorite techniques - whatever brings YOU joy!

Keep scrolling to the end of this post to find out how to share your project, but first, here's some challenge inspiration from Jessica...

Hello, Jess here! Our new challenge is Self Care and one of my favorite ways to unwind during this stay at home time is to create beautiful places that I'd love to visit! It's a great mental escape and the HeroScape and Color Layering sets from Hero Arts are perfect for creating scenes!

I love the newest Beach HeroScape that was an add-on for the April My Monthly Hero kit and wanted that to be the focus of my slimline card! I started by stamping the bottom layer of the water with Soft Pool and Tide Pool ink. I used a damp baby wipe to smudge where the two colors met so it would look more natural. Then I stamped the top layer with Blue Raspberry Reactive ink. I used the coordinating die to die-cut it and then set it aside while I worked on the rest of the card.

First I die-cut a circle from the Nesting Circle Infinity Dies from masking paper.  Then I masked off the bottom of a 3.5" by 8" panel masking paper and placed the circle on top to create a sunset. Then I blended Lemon Drop, Creamsicle, and Fruit Punch Reactive ink across the top of the panel to create my dreamy sky.  After I finished blending the sky I removed the circle mask and blended a little more Lemon Drop ink over the sun to give it some color. Then I masked off the top of the panel and blended Soft Vanilla Shadow and Caramel Hybrid ink to create the sandy ground. Once I finished blending I adhered my ocean along the horizon. I stamped the sentiment and sea birds from Beach HeroScape with Embossing & Watermark ink and then heat-embossed it with Silver embossing powder. Finally I die-cut the little dolphin from Color Layering Sea and Sky Frame Cuts from Dove White Hero Hues cardstock and pressed it into the Embossing & Watermark ink pad before heat-embossing it with Silver Sparkle embossing glitter. I adhered my dolphin to the scene with foam dots to finish the card!

And now I'll go back to daydreaming about spending the day in those pretty waves! ;)

We hope Jessica's beautiful card inspired you. Now it's your turn - we'd absolutely love for you to join us! We want to encourage you to actually sit down and enjoy the process of creating. We know it is a source of fun, relaxation and stress relief - something we all can use a bit more of right now. Create a new card for this challenge with the theme of SELF CARE. Use the Inlinkz tool at the very bottom of this post to link up your card, and you will be entered into our drawing. We will be giving a $35 gift certificate randomly to one person who plays along! To link up your project, you need to share it publicly somewhere that you can grab the link - this can be your blog, Instagram, a Flickr account - anything that allows you to have a URL or website location to link up.

We, of course, encourage you to use your favorite Hero Arts products. But any and all entries are eligible for consideration. We really care most about you bringing a little inky joy into your life. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, April 16 at 5:00pm PT to be eligible for the giveaway, and the winner will be announced when we announce our next challenge next Friday. Scroll down below the product thumbnails to find the linkup!

And if you share your project on social media, we'd love if you'd use the #staycraftywithhero hashtag.

Thanks to everyone who played along with our Home Inspiration challenge this past week! Our random winner is Lori, who created this beautiful card featuring our Nautilus die.

Congratulations Lori! Email us at info@heroarts.com with "Stay Crafty Challenge Winner" in the subject to claim your prize.

Here's to connection, creativity, inspiration, and kindness. ❤
