Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge #23
Who's ready for summer and a little Fun in the Sun? We sure are. So we've made it the theme of our next challenge! You can interpret this theme however you'd like - any sort of imagery that makes you think of sunshine, summer, having fun - you name it! We'll include all of the challenge details further down this post, but first, here's a gorgeous card from Maria, our mixed media queen!
Hello, everybody! It's Maria here and I'm just floating by to say hello and share a fun card to kick of the new Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge. This month's challenge is "Fun in the Sun" and I am so on board with that because I love sunshine!
When I think of "Fun in the Sun" I think of sunshine, beaches and the Caribbean Sea. I decided to pair the new Inverse Bubbles Bold Prints with the Paper Layering Seahorses, Seashells Fancy Dies and Hero Lifestyle Mermaid Dies to create this bright and summery card.
I started by putting my Inverse Bubbles Bold Prints in my MISTI and inking it up with Pool Party, Splash, Blue Hawaii and Thistle Reactive Inks. I swiped the ink pads randomly onto the stamp and then lightly spritzed the stamp with water. I quickly stamped onto watercolor cardstock. The areas that I spritzed with less water showed the bubble design. The areas that had been spritzed with more water ended up losing detail and making a beautiful watercolor background that faded into the bubbles.
I die cut a seahorse and ink-blended it using Creamsicle and Fruit Punch inks. Then I splattered the seahorse with white and gold metallic inks. I cut a sea star and staff from a sheet of gold metal for a little bling. Then I cut a mermaid tail and fish from white cardstock and Copic colored the fish.
I heat embossed a sentiment from the Need a Hand stamp set onto my background. Then I used the Nesting Circle Dies to cut a circle from one of my scrap pieces of paper (it's stamped with the Novel Prose Bold Prints) and layered my die cut pieces on top of that. I adhered my focal piece to the background using foam tape. To finish the card off I added some extra detail with a gel pen and I also added some white and gray enamel dots.
Ok, that's it for today you guys! I hope you all have an amazing day and enjoy this fun challenge.
