Hello crafty friends! It's time to Stay Crafty With Hero! This month's challenge should be an easy one. It's one of the main reasons we create handmade cards. This month we are challenging you to make Birthday Cards! It can be any sort of style or design, and use any sort of stamp, die, stencil or whatever type of product you wish. Whatever birthday theme you like, let that inspire your cardmaking or creative time this month. Even better? Look at your calendar and see who has a birthday coming up, create with them in mind, and actually put your card in the mail. That's of course not required, but we do know it would brighten someone's day! We'll include all of the challenge details further down this post, but first, here's a fun birthday card from Jessica, featuring products from our April release!
Hi friends! Jess here with some inspiration for our new Birthday Card challenge. Today I'm combining some cardstock inlay with the fun Geometric Sun Cover Plate Die to create a cheery card in one of my favorite color palettes!
To start I die-cut the Geometric Sun Cover Plate Die five times from Hero Hues cardstock in Peony, Azalea, Paradise, Adriatic, and Nautical. While I was working I kept the pieces in place as best as I could so it'd be easy to sort them later. I applied adhesive all over an A2 panel of Nautical cardstock and then laid the frame on top. Then I worked color by color inlaying pieces back inside the frame. I started with the largest pieces first and then filled in the smaller pieces. I did my best to keep the colors organic and random so it would look more natural. It almost gives it a stained glass effect!
After I adhered all the little pieces inside the frame I stamped the sentiment from the April My Monthly Hero kit onto the large center piece with Embossing & Watermark ink and heat-embossed it with Brass Embossing Powder. I added the large piece to the frame and then used Precision Liquid Glue to add a few sequins to finish the card!
Now it's your turn! Create a new card for this challenge with the theme Birthday Cards! Use the Inlinkz tool at the very bottom of this post to link up your card, and you will be entered into our drawing. We will be giving a $50 gift certificate randomly to one person who plays along! To link up your project, you need to share it publicly somewhere you can grab the link - this can be your blog, Instagram, a Flickr account - anything that allows you to have a URL or website location to link up.
We, of course, encourage you to use your favorite Hero Arts products. But any and all entries are eligible for consideration. We really care most about you bringing a little inky joy into your life.
