Special Guest Designer - Simon Hurley
Today we are excited to have a very special guest joining us - Simon Hurley! If you follow Simon, you know he's young, and an avid user of social media. We love the fun idea he had for planning today's card! Take it away, Simon!
Hi friends! It's Simon Hurley and today I am excited to share a project that my creative followers helped me create. When creating my project, I posted polls on Instagram and had my followers vote on what products and colors I should use. This was super fun to create a card inspired by my followers with awesome products that they chose.
55% of my followers voted that I should use the adorable puppy from the Headline Messages stamp set. So, I quickly colored the pup using watercolors and used it as the focal image on the card.
52% of my followers voted on the String Background Bold Prints stamp and 71% voted for the Ombre Meadow ink pad to create an ink blended background. To create the colorful background, I heat embossed the background stamp to create a resist for the ink colors. Then, I blended on the colors using blending sponges and light pressure. I like using the ombre inks for backgrounds because they have three colors that coordinate beautifully together and it takes out the guesswork.
I stamped the "This just in... You're the best" sentiment that 89% of my followers voted for. I love the fun news related sentiments that go along with the puppy image! I finished off the card with a few sequins from the Seashore Sequin Mix that 71% of my followers voted on.
Thanks so much for stopping by to see my project inspired by my followers. I hope it inspired you to create something fun!
Thank YOU for joining us on the blog today, Simon!
And thanks to all of you for stopping by.
This is wonderful! I love the choice of colors, the pretty background and the adorable pup :)
I forgot to say, so let me add here: Your idea of crowd-sourcing an art work is very, very interesting and original!
How adorable! I love dogs and dog stamps. I especially like your card.
Simon, your card is perfect! Love the different elements you combined!
