Sparkle Embossing + Watercolors = Simply Charming
Janette Kausen
Hello, hey there, hi! Welcome to the Hero Arts blog! Today, I am sharing a simply charming card created with the new Artistic Peony wood mount stamp and Gold Sparkle Embossing Powder.
When adding rich detail to a card, like a sparkly embossing powder, I find I like it best to keep the remaining areas fairly simple. Watercolor brush markers were the perfect combo to achieve depth while still retaining soft blends.
After a little bit of masking with just a torn piece of a full stick post-it (I'm too lazy to stamp and fussy cut, lol!), I heat embossed with Gold Sparkle Embossing Powder on Smooth Bristol paper.
I watercolored with Arteza Real Brush Watercolor Markers. I lined the darkest areas of several petals with my deepest color choice and then blended out to white with a paint brush and clean water. Some petals I added a second layer of color, others I didn't. A few of the peach petals have a touch of the vibrant pink color for added interest.
I created my own coordinating sentiment strip by watercoloring a scrap of Smooth Bristol paper with the same markers. Once dry, I heat embossed a sentiment from the You're Beautiful stamp set and gave it a fun banner end with the Tag Infinity Frame Dies.
Add a black accent under the sentiment strip and adhere panel to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Black Folded Card. A few Seashore Sequins complete the sweet card.
Thank you for joining me today as we showcase a few items from the new catalog. If you'd like a looksie, you may do so (at your own risk, tee-tee-hee!) here.
Happy crafting and we'll see you soon!
this is so gorgeous — wish there was video of how you got such stunningly subtle blends of those beautiful soft colors.
This is awesome Janette, love the colour combination and of course the gorgeous stamp.
