Simple Ink Blended Shells
Hi crafters! By now, I hope that you’ve had the opportunity to see all of the beautiful cards that have been shared this week that were created with the July My Monthly Hero kit and with the ocean themed add-on products. After seeing so many incredible ideas, I was inspired to make some cards using the new Sea You Soon stamp set and the matching dies.
Although I made three different cards, I used the same simple techniques to create each one. I started by stamping the Wave Pattern Background with Embossing & Watermark Ink onto a piece of cardstock. For my first card, I used Nautical blue cardstock. Then, I covered the stamped background with clear embossing powder and used a heat gun to melt the powder. Although it’s hard to see in the pictures, the clear embossing powder creates a wonderful background shine.
Next, I embossed a white sentiment from the Sea You Soon set onto a tag that I cut with one of the Tag Infinity dies. After stamping a variety of shells with Navy ink onto Dove White cardstock, I blended Taffy and Lemon Drop ink over each image with a foam blending tool before cutting around the images with the coordinating dies. I placed the tag vertically on the card and then clustered the inked shells around the tag.
For my second card, I used Adriatic cardstock for the card base and the background. The clear embossed background is especially vivid on this dark color. I stamped a collection of shells with Blue Raspberry ink and similarly inked each image with subtle pink and yellow ink. This time, I embossed a pretty script sentiment from the From the Vault Flowers set onto a tag that I positioned horizontally on the card.
For my final card, I used a lighter color of cardstock, Mist, and I stamped the sentiment and images with Intens-ified Black ink for variety. I inked the shells with Pool Party and Blue Hawaii ink. Once again, I clustered the images around a sentiment tag at the center of the card; however, this time I tied the tag with some black cording.
I finished each card with a few Champagne sequins that I secured to the cards with Precision Glue. The Sea You Soon set might be my new go-to summer set. I love that the images can be meticulously colored, loosely painted or quickly ink blended like I did on these cards.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope that you give this month’s new products another look. Since time at the beach might be limited this year, I can’t think of a better way to send a little summer sunshine to a friend. Happy crafting!
